The Reiki Path

Reiki is an ancient form of ‘energy healing’ found in many ancient cultures around the world.  There are forms found on every continent, albeit they go by different names.  Our practitioners at Pillars of Health utilize a Japanese form termed REIKI. (Pronounced; Ray-Key)

Reiki  霊気  was rediscovered in 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui, but is thought to be much older. Our Vancouver Reiki Practitioners use this same form.  The intuitive nature of the energy healer is used to calm the mind and focus the energy of the one being healed into themselves, thus they can resolve problems held within or without.  The “healer” is not so much healing someone as helping them to heal themselves by allowing the patient to channel energy to where it is needed through the 5 Chakras and therefore into the main nervous pathways, glands and organs as well as auric fields.

Reiki Masters (the teachers of Reiki) abide by the Five Reiki Principles derived from the Buddhist teachings. The Five Reiki Principles are:  At least for today… Do not be angry, Do not worry, Be grateful, Work with diligence, Be kind to people.

Each Reiki practitioner makes their practice theirs as they learn and grow in the discipline.  At Pillars of Health we have expounded these 5 simple ideas.  These are What we refer to as the 5 Spiritual Pillars; Compassion, Community, Acceptance, Perspective and Presence.  When we treat clients using Reiki this is part of our intention and we often use a mantra of “Healthy, Happy, Whole, Healed” to guide the wandering mind of the practitioner and hone his/her attention to the task at hand.

The Reiki Path is one that has shaped the emergence of Pillars of Health as the new wave of fitness and health by taking into account more than just the physical body.  At Pillars of Health we have had an incredible amount of success with Reiki and our clients love the way it makes them feel.

“It is beautiful to watch a flower grow from bud to blossom after a refreshing rain and a ray of golden sun.” BN

All Reiki at Pillars of Health is done by donation.  Sessions last approximately one hour.
